A Breckenridge Elopement

featuring Kami & Louie

"It was you from the moment we met."

Not everyone gets the privilege of loving their job. But if you do, it’s worth asking: What makes me love this? For me, it’s couples like Kami & Louie—the ones who are genuine, adventurous, & so deeply connected. The kind of couple you can’t help but love.

The Inspiration Behind the Day

Kami & Louie wanted a day that reflected their love for nature, adventure, & the quiet beauty of Colorado. Together, we created an inspo board to align on the vibe they envisioned—intimate moments, wildflower fields, meaningful details, movement, & the stunning backdrop of the mountains.

It was so fun bringing this vision to life, combining soft, romantic touches with the adventurous feel they were going for.

The Morning at the Airbnb

We started the day at their Airbnb, a cozy-feeling cabin tucked into the Colorado mountains with dark wood tones & pockets of warm, natural light streaming through the windows.

While they got ready for their day, I photographed some of the details they’d brought with them: a local map, "Just Eloped" signs they’d made themselves, rings, flowers, her dress (inspired by Bridgerton) & veil, cologne, shoes, & even a custom guitar pick. Each item represented some part of their story.

Before heading out, Kami & Louie took a moment to write their vows—they couldn’t wait to share them with each other.

The First Look

Once Louie was ready, we took him outside to wait for Kami. When she stepped out, the way they looked at each other said everything. These quickly became some of my favorite photos of the day.

We captured it on both camera & an old video recorder, adding a nostalgic touch that made the moment even more special.

Blue Lakes Trail & Waterfall

Next, we hopped in the car & headed to the Blue Lakes Trail. Our first stop was the waterfall, where Kami & Louie were completely in their element.

Afterward, they stepped away for a private moment to exchange vows & rings—just the two of them, surrounded by nature. Then they invited us back to snap a few photos—LOOK—these moments were everything.

With their vows shared & their marriage license signed, we explored the lake. The landscape was unreal & we used Kami’s handheld mirror for a few creative shots.

Celebrating Over Lunch

After wrapping up at the trail, we headed back to Breckenridge for a lunch break to celebrate their marriage. My husband (& second photographer) & I joined Kami & Louie—it felt more like a double date than work.

We shared stories, laughed about their love of dogs (something we could definitely relate to), & enjoyed a nice rest before heading to the next stop.

Boreas Pass Wildflowers

Our next destination was Boreas Pass, where we found a wide-open field of wildflowers that looked like something out of a movie. With the mountains in the background, Kami’s "mountain fairy princess" vibe was absolutely perfect.

The Cake Reveal

The day ended back at their Airbnb with one of the most special moments I’ve captured. Kami & Louie exchanged gifts, then pulled out a cake a friend had custom ordered for them—inside was the gender reveal for their baby!

Without a knife in sight, I suggested they use champagne glasses to cut the cake, which somehow worked perfectly. They curled up on the couch, laughing & celebrating as they found out they were having a baby boy. It was intimate, joyful, & the perfect way to wrap up their day.

Their Reaction

Here’s what Kami said when I delivered their gallery:

“Christa and Grant were so amazing to work with, they made our day very relaxing, no awkwardness, just felt like hanging out with friends!
